The Hull Truth: Episode 17 – The Week of January 27th, 2014

Posted Image

The Hull Truth is a weekly update of the most recent facts regarding Star Citizen. Most of the information is taken from Wingman's Hangar and the Development team. It's an attempt to give you a concise roundup of all the new developments in a short timeframe so that you are not required to hunt them down or watch long videos...

Thanks for all the great info Wes. I know I'm probably in the minority, but most of the video questions are cringe-worthy IMHO and not at all funny or as witty as the video makers think they are. OK, SOME of the Disco Lando stuff is slightly humorous, but for the most part, I've started fast forwarding through the Forum Feedback segment.

Well, that's enough ranting for one comment. Keep up the great work my friend.

Thanks man. Yeah we've gotten a few.  There was some kind of hiccup with the vid today and the views were REALLY slow at first. It seems to be catching up now. It probably had something to do with YT not sending out the vid to all the subs like it tends to do.

Thanks man. The fan videos just make the Q/A section REALLY long. They have their personality and flavor thing and we try to just do the news. Just two different approaches.

Awesome episode Wes.

The more i hear about Star Citizen the more i can't wait for it to come out. I really liked the sound of being able to disappear from enemies by shutting down your systems and hiding. Seems very realistic. Not sure on other ways to escape from pirates though.

I like the idea of Electronic Warfare (EW). Something like a targeted EM burst, it would disable your weapons for a long period (Ie: 5 minutes), but disable your targets' tracking system for a short period (Ie: 30 seconds) to give you a chance to slip away.

It would be relatively weaker for pirates, as it disables your weapons. but strong against pirates, since you don't need to shoot them to run. The mechanics could be tweaked, but the idea would remain the same. Good for runners, weak for pirates. And with a large penalty for using it.

If the pirate ganks you with a team and outnumber you, it would be ineffective, but you really should be screwed if a bunch of pirates catch you no matter what.

I think also something that disables propulsion also. I mean, if there weapons and targetting is blocked they can still chase you until it wears off, or when you run out of energy, because i dont think you should be able to perma jam something. If the propulsion was disabled you could then get distance from them.

We know that we can specifically target parts of a ship like the engines/thrusters. What if you were an exploration/hauling ship decked to the nines for that purpose AND evasion. You have a bit of ECM to scramble systems and then you unload with your one, dedicated weapon that's there to quickly knock out an enemy thruster. Then you jet.
