History

  • My name is Wes and I’m the creator of The Hull Truth on YouTube. I started Hull Truth as a way to keep people informed and also to begin building a community for this game. We have an already established community on Twitch.tv known as The Romantics thus our guild tag [WatR] which stands for We are the Romantics.
  • I started this community in September of 2012 to give myself some daily structure after my mother died. When my mother passed away, my dad was so crippled he could not take care of himself alone so I purchased a new house, quit my job and moved him in with me. I could not leave the house for more than 30 minutes at a time due to the excessive amount of care he needed. The live stream gave me a way to stay sane.
  • Little did I know that such an amazing community would spring up around the stream. People began to flock to the channel and all of them are amazing, caring and understanding individuals that act as a whole, The Romantics community. There are many stories of kindness, new friendships forming and even people traveling across countries to meet with friends they found through our community. The family we have online has helped me get through the toughest 2 years of my entire life and I don’t know how I would have made it without them.
  • I hope that you will consider taking part in this experience by joining our community and experiencing the outpouring of kindness that I have over the past year+.
  • You can find us on the web at http://www.wearetheromantics.com

Manifesto

Here at Romanticorp we value community above all else.

Our beliefs, goals and requirements below.

We believe in having a good time with friends without elitism. Our main goal has always been to build a community of GOOD people on the web. With this community of friends and family we will carve out our place in Star Citizen operating multiple divisions with specific leaders for each division. You will have personal access to your division and org leaders.

The Four Cornerstones

  • A Generous Spirit
  • Mutual Respect
  • Maturity
  • Positivity
This means you can’t have a bad time. If everyone follows these rules, we will be successful in our community.

Goals

  • Community Community Community – We want you to meet new people, make friends and have an excellent time while never having to worry about elitism or being locked out of content because you’re not “good enough” or in the right “clique” which happens in so many large guilds.
  • Quality over Quantity – Who wants to be in a massive guild and be anonymous with no hope of joining in on the good stuff?
  • To be successful enough in Star Citizen that all members will be able to participate in any aspect of the game they please
  • To eventually be lucrative enough to provide payment to our own members for doing in-guild jobs such as economic escorts of our transports
  • To successfully run multiple divisions within the same organization, each with their own leadership to provide in-org roles for people with personal access to their specific division leaders.
  • To be precise in our efforts. Our multiple division approach with dedicated leadership will allow us to put our BEST most INTERESTED pilots into the roles they love and allow them to help shape and make our org successful.

I really like the change of color.

Is there a way to change the Hull Truth post to the most recent one?

Yeah I will change that. Not sure on the color yet either since we're waiting on the custom artwork to be finished. We will need to tie everything together.

What does 'Charter' mean, is it what System WatR is based out of?

I'm assuming just the "foundation document" is the charter he's speaking of. Defined kind of like:

A document outlining the principles, functions, and organization of a corporate body;

What would WATR top role be?  I was wondering if we are going to start a factory up, and what would we be making (weapons, parts, ships if possible).

Or are we going to mine and trade merchandise . I think it would be a good idea to com up with a plan about how we are going to invest our founds. Just so we dont go crazy and try to to everything, unless we are able :)

My vote would be a weapon factory, you know at the start people are going to be gun happy!

thanks for any input !

Yeah I would say Munitions would be top priority early on. The thing is, with the way the econ works in this game, probably raw materials is where it's at right at the start. We have to get those factories working.

I really think we're going to have enough people playing that we CAN do a bit of everything, immediately.

I don't think we should make any definite plans until we actually see how these branches work in the game. Since the progress in PU beta will probably be wiped, we can test everything and see how to spread out our forces, and what is actually worth doing and how many dedicated people it actually requires.

By the end of the beta/alpha we should have a general idea of the corp hierarchy and the general direction of each division - that way we can start working towards a common goal since day one of SC's release.

You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens.

How did we end up as "WatR"? as in the history behind the name? My girlfriend thumped me thinking it was a dating site....then she thumped me again, after how much I told her I'd spent on "Internet Spaceships"....and then a third one after I said "yeah it's a dating site for people who collect Internet Spaceships"...no sense of humour...

WatR = We are the Romantics.

It basically started with the Twitch stream and a web series we did on YouTube called The Romantics. It was a goofy name that we threw out there on a whim that was NOT marketable or popular or anything lol... At the time, we had no idea it would turn into anything or that we would end up with a big community around it.

It's based on the definition of Romanticism that goes something like: Impractical Romantic ideals and practices, thinking of things in their ideal form rather than what they really are.

It's kind of like when you Romanticise your past, childhood, games you played etc... Nostalgia to me is a kind of Romanticism. I take it as a way to be positive about things that aren't always the best. Putting your rose tinted glasses on :)

Not yet. Probably leave it up to the community as a whole to write some if they so desire.

I originally intended for Romanticorp to be a type of migrant fleet thing sort of like the Mass Effect stuff.

I think at this point it should just be something that will facilitate a company that has tendrils in every aspect of the universe (game/mechanics) with an open-minded attitude about accepting people into the group. We will run civilian and military ops as well as some black ops with some secret teams. We're basically going to try and do everything there is to do in the game, as an org.

I could write up a little in-lore thing that just gives a goal/orientation type thing of our organization and you guys could expand on it if you like.

That'd be awesome, Wes!

I like the idea of being a sort of migrant fleet like in Mass Effect. Maybe the trade, exploration, and close-knit community aspects of the Quarian flotilla merged with the militaristic, scientific, and corporate atmosphere of Cerberus? ;)
